I like this study because it's so aggressive and polarizing . . . it's a ranking of America's BEST cities of the year.
To figure out the best cities, the real estate blog Movoto looked at all of their other rankings of cities this year . . . like smartest cities, hardest working cities, most exciting cities, funniest cities, and more . . . and did a meta-analysis of all of them.
So their list of the best cities of the year is all based on how cities scored in more than a dozen OTHER rankings.
And the BEST city in America this year was . . . Portland, Oregon. It's the number one city for movie lovers, the number two nerdiest city, and tied for fourth in cities for food lovers and funniest cities.
The rest of the top 10 are: Atlanta . . . Seattle . . . San Francisco . . . Washington D.C. . . . Raleigh, North Carolina . . . San Diego . . . Denver . . . Miami . . . and Las Vegas.
They included 50 cities total in their analysis. The 10 WORST cities of the year are: Fresno, California . . . Memphis . . . Detroit . . . El Paso . . . Jacksonville . . . Indianapolis . . . San Antonio . . . Oklahoma City . . . Milwaukee . . . and Nashville.
(You can see the rankings for all 50 cities here.)
