A 44-year-old woman was taken to UC Medical Center Sunday after crashing into a freight train. It happened on the Norfolk Southern tracks near Old Lexington Pike in Richwood, Kentucky.
Police said Melissa Hemingway of Williamstown managed to drive on the tracks about a half mile southbound before she ran into a northbound train around 1:15 p.m. The train was traveling about 25 miles per hour, and came to an emergency stop. The car was pushed back about 215 yards.
Hemingway suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation.
