(Cincinnati, Oh.)—The man who tried to write off his gambling debt as a business expense will not be going to jail.

Michael Scott, who owned East Fork Construction in Williamsburg, lost $283,000 at casinos around the country between 2007 and 2008.

Authorities said in an attempt to get the money back, Scott wrote off the losses as business expenses. He even changed the names on the checks he wrote to the casinos to those of business supply companies.

Scott paid $65,000 to the IRS and will spend three years on probation.
